The department started refresher courses, conducted jointly with specialists from the Institute of Medical Radiology and Oncology named after A. S.P. Grigoriev National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.

On February 23, 2021, in accordance with the order of the rector, training began on refresher courses at the Center for Postgraduate Education KNURE, organized by the Department of BMI together with specialists from the Institute of Medical Radiology and Oncology named after V. S.P. Grigoriev National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.

At the beginning of the first lecture, the head of the department. BMI prof. O. Avrunin wished the participants a successful mastering of new knowledge. He noted that for the first time in Ukraine, on the basis of KNURE, courses “Radiation Protection and Safety in the Use of Ionizing Radiation in Medicine” are being held under the IAEA international trainings program in English. Candidate of Biological Sciences, Assoc. department BMI L.L. Stadnik, who is the head of the Central Laboratory of Radiation Safety and Dosimetry of Medical Exposure of the IMRO NAMS of Ukraine, the coordinator of the IAEA programs in Ukraine.

The purpose of these courses is to train specialists with knowledge, experience and skills in the field of radiation safety when using ionizing radiation in medicine. Cadets will master the ability to use standards and regulatory documents in the field of radiation safety, assess the doses of personnel and patients during various types of X-ray diagnostic studies and procedures based on the results of dosimetric monitoring, carry out calculations of inpatient protection of premises in which it is planned to conduct radiation diagnostics and radiation therapy procedures, develop a program control and quality assurance of the performance of radiation therapy and radiation diagnostics procedures.

The group of cadets enrolled 10 students of 3-5 courses, of which 8 students are foreigners. Also, in order to improve qualifications, teachers of KNURE – head of department – joined the training. OP Stitsenko T.E. and Assoc. department BMI L.A. Averyanova The volume of the program is 6 ECTS credits. Upon completion of training on April 30, course graduates will receive state certificates.
