A seminar was held with the staff of the V.G.Korolenko Kharkiv State Scientific Library

As part of the cooperation of the department with the V.G.Korolenko Kharkiv State Scientific Library, a general seminar was organized at which plans for future joint activities were discussed, an acquaintance with laboratories, unique equipment and areas of scientific work was carried out. The head of the department, Professor Avrunin, made a presentation on the role of libraries in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. He noted that libraries are unique social institutions that can be included in all areas and spheres of public life and have great potential for their intensive development. Libraries are able to influence the fulfillment of tasks on the way to the Goals and help to ensure that the largest number of society joins in their implementation. First of all, of course, with the use of collections of library funds, paper and electronic, with the help of educational and awareness-raising events, popularization and effective actions. Libraries support almost all of the Sustainable Development Goals: • promote literacy, including media, information and digital; • fill gaps in access to information and help government, civil society and business to better understand local information needs; • contribute to the implementation of government programs; • act as centers of research groups, including those on environmental issues; • preserve and provide access to the culture and heritage of the world. As a result, Oleg Grigorievich expressed hope for the further development of mutually beneficial partnership with the V. G. Korolenko Library, in particular, with the department of scientific and information support of innovative processes to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
