On 9 December, the first stage of discussions on signing a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Department of Biomedical Engineering of NURE and the HANDICAP INTERNATIONAL Humanity & Inclusion was held in order to obtain specialized equipment for prosthetics/orthotics and bioprinting.

The representative meeting was attended by Yurii Romanenkov, Vice-Rector for Research of NURE; Murad Omarov, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation of NURE; Oleg Avrunin, Head of the Department of BMI; Dmytro Snizhko, Professor of the BME Department; and Tetiana Nosova and Karina Selivanova, Associate Professors of the BME Department.

The representatives of Handicap International were: Alice Belliot, Health Project Manager, and Oleksandr Kuznetsov, Prosthetics and Orthotics Technical Officer, who is a student of the second (master’s) level of higher education in the Biomedical Engineering study program.

Issues related to the draft Memorandum of Cooperation and the acquisition by the department of specialized equipment for prosthetics/orthotics and bioprinting of components for the training of applicants at all levels of higher education were discussed.
Cooperation with international organizations carrying out humanitarian missions in Ukraine in the context of the war to support national education contributes to the expansion of new relevant scientific areas in the field of prosthetics/orthotics as well as to improve the quality of the educational process, which in turn contributes to the achievement of the 3rd, 4th and 17th of the Global Goals – Good Health and Well-being, Quality Education and Partnership for Development.
